LogTek Puzzle Maker presents a very simple, easy-to-navigate interface that allows one to create Japanese puzzles, which are pictures placed onto cells on a grid. Several sample puzzles are included in the program, which are handy for practicing to discover how the program works. When I selected 'New' from the menu bar, the program presented a drawing window with a blank graph page and a small option window where I chose the number of cells I required for my puzzle picture. Puzzle fields can only be up to a maximum of 50 to 50 cells, and the maximum number of colors is 8.
Once I adjusted all my settings, it was easy for me to create a picture puzzle simply by painting in the cells. When I finished my simple creation, I saved it and then I was able to test my puzzle with the program. LogTek Puzzler application, also included in the program, where the picture puzzles are solved. When a picture is opened in this application, all the player can see is the grid and the numbers above and to the side of the picture - these are indicators pointing how many cells are to be filled. Players should logically estimate what cells are filled in and in what color to reveal the picture and complete the puzzle. Puzzles are saved in either PBM or PPM file formats.
